DNS hole in Microsoft windows

•April 17, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Microsoft has  published a security advisory affecting DNS servers running on microsoft windows 2000 and 2003-sp2 included. DNS servers running on port 53 are not affected but the RPC service is affected so if your system is widely exposed you are screwed up. Well the worst thing is MS has not yet released a patch as yet. There are reports of a worm propagating that expoits this flaw now lets see how bad it gets, I bet if we encounter one more issue at this point in DNS which will actually affect the dns servers running on port 53 I can actually see another blaster coming..

Easy way to prosper, use Rival’s Database

Google apparently used sohu.com’s dictionry in a new product they launched, Product name is “Google Pinyin Input Method Editor (IME)”. Read here

Well first tell me a few things.

1) Where did google get the dictionary from ?

a) Did the hack into sohu.com’s network ?

b) Did they use a automated tool like WinRunner or QTP to automate the download of whole dictionary used by sohu ?

c) Did they buy it from sohu.com’s employee ?

d) Did they hire somebody from sohu or related from sohu and asked them to get a copy with themselves when coming to google

Tell me which answer do you like ?

2) What happened to “DONT BE EVIL” motto of Google ?

3) AFAIK google is just trying to screwup everything they can, because they are afraid if once their search goes down nothing can save them so they want to make sure that they have some backup plans to earn living.

4) Media is silent on this, Tell me what if microsoft would have done this ?

Every news website will shout and make noise about it.

Bloggers will start bashing ms for everything from dos to windows vista.

Now its not that google did it by mistake, Google did it and thats about it, who cares after all its google who we all love and not microsoft whose operating system we use but still bitch about every product from microsoft.
